Workplace
Did you know that smoking costs employers in the South West over £160 million a year, through smoking-related illness absences and productivity losses due to smoking breaks?
Supporting your staff to stop smoking not only reduces sickness absence and increases productivity, but also improves your company’s image. It has been shown to make staff feel more motivated and increase loyalty.
70% of smokers would like to give up and Somerset NHS Stop Smoking Service provides free support to employers to help their workforce do just that, with those receiving support being four times more likely to succeed compared to willpower alone.
Our Specialist Service is free and flexible and offers a variety of support which can be tailored to suit your workforce. This includes:
• materials to signpost your employees to Somerset NHS Stop Smoking Service;
• information sessions, offering carbon monoxide and lung age testing, in addition to advice on accessing support to stop smoking;
• a weekly group, consisting of hourly sessions for 6 weeks providing advice on treatments, behavioural support, and carbon monoxide testing (minimum of 10 people is required).
Employers can also access Stop Smoking Adviser training for staff at a nominal charge, to enable continued support to be accessible on site.
